BC 158 reported new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

British Columbia announced 158 new cases COVID-19 On Wednesday.

This is the 13th day in a row that the province has reported more than 100 new cases of the disease. BC reported nearly 550 cases over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

In a written statement, health officials said the death toll from the virus had not changed at 250.

However the number of active cases rose again to 1,496, leaving another 3,608 isolated due to disclosure.

The lion’s share of new cases – 102 – are in the Fraser Health area. Forty-nine were in the Vancouver Coastal Health Area, three were inland and two each in the Vancouver Island and Northern Health Area reported.

Eighty-four were hospitalized, an increase of seven overnight. Twenty-four are in critical or intensive care.

More than 83 percent of BC’s 10,892 cases have recovered.

In their statement, Regional Health Officer Dr Bonnie Henry and Deputy Health Minister Stephen Brown called on people to do personal health checks on a daily basis.

“This is especially important if we have recently spent time with people outside of our‘ Safe Six ’,” the statement reads.

“If you feel sick, be the COVID-19 champion who chooses to stay home and stay away from others.”
