The Biden administration has no plans to “lock in” the United States in the wake of the new winter wave of COVID-19, executive spokeswoman Jen Saki said Monday during a highly anticipated speech from Joe Biden.
The American president, who will address Americans on Tuesday about the Omicron variant, will not announce the “detention of the nation,” she said in her daily press briefing, emphasizing the benefits of the vaccine.
He also announces new “measures” to “increase access to screening” for COVID-19 and hammer out the “risks to people who have not been vaccinated”.
The Omicron variant, which quickly overtakes the delta in the United States, risks pushing the country into new waves with favorable weather conditions for holidays and indoor meetings later this year, according to health officials.
