Breast Cancer: Launching a telephone line for women with an early diagnosis

The Quebec Breast Cancer Federation launched a diagnostic project on Friday, the Support Telephone Line, which will help women find support and resources needed during the pre-diagnosis process.

The free 1-855-561-ROSE telephone line is available throughout Quebec, trained caregivers themselves are suffering from breast cancer. They are there to explain the diagnostic process, to access resources, to provide emotional support, and to equip patients to navigate the health system.

The service documents requests and identifies various causes for delays in the breast cancer pre-diagnosis process. Thus, over the next three years, pilot projects will be implemented to reduce diagnostic times to seven weeks and alleviate the suffering of those affected.

In Quebec, the pre-diagnosis period can take up to 17 weeks to place Quebec 10th on the list of Canadian provinces, according to data collected by the Canadian Partners Against Cancer for Quebec women aged 50 to 69 years. Biopsy after detection of abnormality.

“Despite the rising rate of prevention for breast cancer, young and young women are being diagnosed. This is a very worrying condition that we do not have much data on, but it should be taken seriously now,” said Karen-Isult Ipsiel, President and CEO of the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Foundation estimates that 6,700 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and 1,300 die each year in Quebec. She recalled that a diagnosis of breast cancer increases the chances of survival quickly.
