According to UN nuclear police, the power supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was “completely” cut off on Wednesday, with the incident “having no major impact on security”.

The plant, which caused the worst civilian nuclear disaster in 1986, was “completely disconnected from the power grid due to the military action of the Russian occupiers.” The site has no power supply, ”said Ukrainian operator Ukrenergo on his Facebook page.
Danger is in progress, “there is no chance of restoring the lines”, he noted.
The Chernobyl site in the Exemption Zone includes reactors that have been shut down since 1986, including Reactor No. 4 covered with sarcophagus and radioactive waste repositories.
According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, the plant has “48-hour capacity generators”.
After that, the stored fuel cooling systems will be shut down, ”he tweeted.
Currently, 20,000 fuel assemblies are stored in the site’s storage pool.
