This is another pickup truck in the compact and intermediate category that stands out for a number of reasons. First, unlike many other competitors, the Honda Ridgeline is built on a unibody chassis. Second, it uses an engine positioned horizontally at the front of the vehicle, whereas most other trucks use longitudinal positions. The engine is a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission and i-VTM4 all-wheel drive are standard.
Third, its handling and comfort are more refined than the majority of the competition. Its interior is spacious and soundproof, though the dashboard presentation is starting to show its age. Fourth, its body has practical tricks like a tailgate that can be opened in different ways and an underfloor trunk.
To top it all off, we must add that this model has an excellent reliability record that no longer needs to be demonstrated. So, while its capabilities may not live up to what Chevrolet, Ford or GMC advertise, its general capabilities mean it tops our list.
