According to data collected in the UK, 52% of people who received the dose were saved from being hospitalized. Two weeks after the second injection, the protection rate increases to 72%, but after 25 weeks it drops again to 52%.
Instead, a third dose makes it possible to increase the effectiveness of the vaccine to 88% against those admitted to the hospital.
Other scientific studies have also suggested that the Omicron variant may attack the upper respiratory tract, namely the nose, throat and trachea.
On the other hand, the lungs are more protected by Omicron than other variants of Kovid-19.
