Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandman, who rose to national fame last year after a violent argument with Native American activists at the Lincoln Memorial, said he was disappointed to see the rioters attack at the CNN Center in Atlanta.
“I don’t want CNN headquarters burning because we live in the United States. Burning the building doesn’t solve the problems,” Sandman tweeted Late Friday evening. “If you want to burn something, go to Iran.”
The rioters attacked CNN headquarters Friday as part of violent protests that erupted after the death of George Floyd by Minneapolis police on May 25.
Sandman made headlines in January 2019 after he and fellow classmates confronted Native American activists at the Lincoln Memorial. An early viral video showed Sandman and classmates mocking and hating admirers, while the long video of the event eventually proved that they were the ones to blame.
Sandman later sued CNN over the incident. CNN settled with Sandman in January 2020 for an undisclosed amount.
A similar lawsuit against the Washington Post is still pending.
