Cybersecurity Forum: More threats than ever

Experts from 35 countries around the world gathered at the Palais des Congrès de Montreal on Tuesday to discuss possible solutions to better protect people and businesses.

The main theme of the InCyber ​​Canada forum was artificial intelligence, which is expanding the phenomenon of fraud, but threats and attempts at fraud are more visible than ever against individuals and businesses.

Whether it's emails about a package to pick up or an update, Canadians encounter these Internet scams every day.

“We should already understand why there are so many attacks. Already, it is very profitable for attackers […] And this type of phishing attack becomes very easy to conduct because there is so much information in circulation Dark web», explained Vincent Rio, General Director of the Incyber Canada Forum.

“There are also kits, turnkey, which means that attackers no longer need to be great experts to attack companies or citizens, it is enough to go to the “right sites” in the end. Dark web“, he clarified.

According to Statistics Canada data, 70% of Canadians will be victims of a cybersecurity incident in 2022 and one in six in 2023. Almost 60% of SMEs do not recover when they fall victim to such a scam.
