A man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of a teacher from Memphis, United States, while jogging on Friday morning.
“Cliotha Abston, 38, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence,” the Memphis, Tenn., police department said in a Twitter post.
Eliza Fletcher, 34, was jogging around 4:30 a.m. Friday when she was approached by an unidentified man, CNN reported.
She was forced into a dark mid-size SUV and driven away from the scene, police said earlier.
According to CNN, the suspect was arrested after police found a vehicle that had been searched since Friday in connection with Eliza Fletcher’s disappearance.
Photos posted on social media by the Memphis Police Department show the young woman walking in a neighborhood near the University of Memphis.
She was last seen wearing a pink sports top and purple running shorts, according to an alert issued by police last Friday.
The kindergarten teacher’s damaged cell phone was found near the scene of her alleged abduction, the Crimestoppers chief executive said in a statement obtained by CNN.
According to a Twitter post from the Memphis Police Department, the young woman has not yet been located and the investigation is still ongoing.
