Abu Dhabi, July 27, 2021 (WAM) – The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has said that early detection of hepatitis is important for its treatment as part of its commitment to improving public health and vaccinating society.

The ministry said this on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day (WDH), which is celebrated on July 28 every year to raise awareness and promote prevention of hepatitis, a group of infectious diseases known as hepatitis A, B, C, D and E. , Diagnosis and treatment.

With this in mind, Mohap regularly launches awareness programs to emphasize the importance of early detection of hepatitis C. It also aims to ensure health security by developing and developing the health system with the best international practices.

According to official hepatitis statistics, the UAE is one of the least affected countries in the world, thanks to the continued efforts of public and private health services. Health care providers are constantly trained in the latest methods to diagnose and treat the disease, applying the best prevention methods to reduce the spread of the virus.

In addition, the country strives to strengthen partnerships and resources in disease control efforts, develop evidence-based and data-based policies, develop prevention plans and programs, and enhance testing, care and treatment services. Attracts the spread of the virus and the latest global treatment methods and protocols.

The United Arab Emirates is one of the leading countries in the Middle East, which has included the hepatitis B vaccine in its schedule of primary immunization in the National Immunization Program since 1991, as part of the state’s commitment to meet with the World Health Organization (WHO) to eradicate hepatitis by 2030. Health workers also receive the vaccine and the ministry provides it to those who travel to countries and regions where the virus is prevalent.

Hepatitis B and C tests are also performed on health workers and health care practitioners who have direct contact with patients. In addition to hepatitis B tests, hepatitis C tests are also included for those who work in hair salons, beauty salons and health clubs.

It is part of a leadership effort to expand the legislative system to build community immunity against the disease and to update medical eligibility testing procedures for residency.

World Hepatitis Day is celebrated annually on July 28 and brings the world under a single theme to raise awareness on the global burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change. In 2021, the theme is “Hepatitis Can’t Wait”.
