Falsely accused of cheating, the twins will receive $1.5 million in compensation

Identical twin girls have been awarded $1.5 million in compensation after falsely accusing a medical university of South Carolina of cheating during year-end exams, according to the New York Post.

Installed in a room less than two meters from each other, the university first noticed suspicious nodes and very similar answers during the final exam.

After the confirmation, the organization accused sisters Kayla and Kelly Bingham of fraud.

After initially being found guilty, they were cleared days after the verdict.

The twins made a career change and studied law to become lawyers.

In 2017, they filed a defamation suit against the school.

A Charleston court ruled in favor of the sisters in the final days.

A psychologist noted during the trial that a different test result would be surprising since twin sisters have the same genetics.

“We’ve lived with this for the last six years and now we have our lives back,” Kayla Bingham said.
