FamilyLiprix removes single-use plastic bags

FamilyPrix is ​​following suit and today announced the cancellation of single-use plastic bags from its branches.

After supermarkets, the company became the first pharmacy retail banner to implement this environmental measure.

“We are proud of the exemplary cooperation that has enabled us to phase out bags over the past few months and are very happy to announce today that we have removed plastic bags from our operations at our 400 branches in Quebec and New Brunswick,” said Julie Larichelier, Marketing Director and Banner’s environmental-responsible shift leader.

Replace plastic bags

The company invites all its customers to bring reusable bags and has implemented environmentally responsible alternatives for deliveries while respecting the environment and public health needs.

Banner makes reusable fabric bags available to its customers at affordable prices.

.Paper bags are still available in the lab to ensure professional and confidential services when purchasing medicines. In fact, two new paper bag formats for lab presentation will be added soon.

In 2019, FamilyLiprix discontinued sales of water cases, enabling it to remove 10 million bottles of water from shelves in its branches. In 2020, the FamilyLiprix console received the Social and Environmental Impact Recognition Award from the Cubacois du Commerce de Commerce.

With the initiative announced today, the company, headquartered in Quebec City, does not distribute nearly 7.5 million single-use plastic bags annually.
