Air carrier Wizz Air, labeled the UK's “worst airline” for the third year in a row, has launched a one-year unlimited flight package in the hope of attracting customers after profits slumped in the first quarter of 2024.
The low-cost airline's “Unlimited Flight” package will offer passengers unlimited flights in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia starting in September, for a total of 499 euros, or about $750 Canadian, per year, the BBC reported Thursday.
According to British media, this relatively new concept is similar to the offering from Frontier Airlines in the United States and AirAsia in Malaysia.
The offer is currently limited to 10,000 subscriptions and is distributed among the airports operated by the company, which has already attracted the attention of many travelers, so certain “priority airports” are already full for the year, according to the BBC.
“If you are unable to select your preferred airport, please note that the limit has been reached and Wizz Air is unfortunately unable to offer you a Wizz All You Can Fly subscription at this time,” the company said in a statement on its website.
The announcement comes shortly after Wizz Air reported a 44% drop in operating profit for the first quarter of 2024 in August.
A few months earlier, the company was named the worst airline in the United Kingdom for the third year in a row, with flight delays averaging 31 minutes late, the PA news agency found. Last June.
