(Miami) Republican Florida Governor Ron Desantis has signed into law a law banning the teaching of sexual orientation or gender identity issues in elementary schools starting Monday.er July, according to its opponents, is a text that is harmful to the LGBT community.

“We want parents to send their children to school so that they can learn, not teach,” the governor began before pasting his signature.
The text applies to students aged eight or nine from kindergarten.
Opposition Democrats and LGBT rights activists have tried to block the so-called “don’t say gay” law, which has caused a stir in the United States.
The controversy also provoked protests among employees of entertainment giant Disney, which has been accused of “indifference” since the law was passed.
The company, which has more than 75,000 employees at the Disney World theme park in Orlando, denied the law in a statement Monday.
The governor of an NGO called Equality Florida has accused it of “damaging our state’s reputation as a place where all families are welcome and inclusive.”
“He made us all laugh nationally. Worse, it has made schools less secure for children, ”the company said in a statement.
