The disciplinary department of the Swiss National League on Sunday imposed a three-game suspension on former Montreal Canadians prospect Magnus Nigren for making a dangerous head check on an opponent.
Last Friday, 31-year-old HC Davos defender Sandro Forrer was hit in the head by a Roppersville-Jonah Lakers forward during a playoff game.

“The contact was not accidental and the blow was very violent,” the disciplinary report reads, considering that Nigren apologized to his victim.
Sweden, the fourth-round selection hob in the 2011 draft, will also receive a fine of 5,400 Swiss francs, amounting to “policy costs”.

Between 2013 and 2014, Nigren played 31 games in two campaigns with the club’s school club Hamilton Bulldogs during that time.
Struggling with a concussion, he returned to Sweden in January 2015 and continued his career with Färjestad BK the following year.
Nigren joined HC Davos in 2017.
