Pierre Carl Peladeau told TVA Nouvelles that the Freedom Mobile Network transaction is the largest in Quebecor’s history.

“After Videotron was acquired by Quebecor, this is the second time we’ve had the opportunity to create something even bigger,” he said.
The transaction changes cellular coverage in Canada.
“He will have a fourth player in most parts of the country and we are very happy about that,” the businessman said
To finalize the transaction, the Quebec company agreed to cut rates by 20% over the next 10 years.
“It’s a commitment we’ve made (…) In Quebec, for the simple reason that we’ve always had far lower fares than the rest of Canada. Here, we have more than 15 years of competition now,” he said.
Although the challenge is ambitious, the entrepreneur is sure to succeed in offering more affordable prices.
“[Réduire ces tarifs] It’s higher than Quebec, so we don’t have much trouble and we expect to win customers by creating real competition thanks to our prices and our innovations”, emphasized Mr. Peladeau.
