“The reduction in the provincial gas tax will allow many struggling Quebecers to save hundreds of dollars,” FCC Quebec director Nicolas Gagnon announced in a press release.
Prime Minister Francois Legault said Mr. Gagnon opined.
He specifically recalled that the Manitoba government had recently announced a six-month moratorium on a provincial tax of 14 cents per liter of gasoline. “This measure will save the average family $250 this year,” said Mr. Gagnon said.
In Ontario, the government has reduced its provincial gasoline tax by 6.4 cents per liter from the summer of 2022 to June 30, 2024.
“Many taxes and gas prices are obstacles that seriously affect the wallets of Quebec families,” said Mr. Gagnon argued.
