U.S. prosecutors said in a letter Monday that Ghisline Maxwell was detained after staff tested positive for coronavirus at a prison awaiting trial on charges that the late financier Jeffrey Epstein aided the sexual abuse of girls.
Staff tested positive last week and Maxwell was tested for the virus using a rapid test on Nov. 18, which prosecutors said in a letter to U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan.
The letter stated that Maxwell had been detained for 14 days at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Maxwell showed no symptoms of COVID-19 and will be tested again at the end of her two-week blockade.
