Héma-Québec: Licensed practical nurses accept the agreement in principle

Members of the Héma-Québec Union of Nurses and Nursing Assistants (CSN) unanimously approved the agreement in principle presented to them in Quebec City for the renewal of the collective agreement.

The Quebec region union said the new collective agreement expires on March 31, 2025. According to the latter, it allows members to maintain their pay parity with nurses and licensed practical nurses, especially in-network nurses.

“For us, equality with the network is essential, recalls Union President Vanessa Poirier. Our work is very important to the population and there must be attractive conditions that encourage nurses and nursing assistants to come and work with us.

For her part, Nathalie Fagnon, president and chief executive officer of Héma-Québec, said she was “pleased that this settlement has been successful.”

“This new collective agreement allows us to turn a page and refocus on what we do best: saving lives,” she said in a statement.

Note that the agreement in principle was reached on March 16 before being submitted to the 80 members of the Quebec region.

Héma-Québec has reached an agreement with eight of the nine union units for the renewal of its collective agreements. Negotiations with nurses and nursing assistants in Montreal are still ongoing.
