How will the Ford F-150 replace the Lightning?

Ford F-150 Lightning

Ford has revealed the first information on the Project T3, the successor to the F-150 Lightning. This new electric model is very fast. It will be manufactured in the blue oval city of Tennessee, dedicated to electric vehicles.

Ford is gearing up for a post-F-150 flash

The brand’s futuristic electric pick-up promises ” Solve all F-150 Lightning problems “. Announced in early 2023, “ T3 project » The F-150 will replace the Lightning. The brand has published a video in which we see the silhouette of the future pickup for a fraction of a second (in the 32nd second). Its design is reminiscent of another. We can see the model with four wheels, silver color, but not much else. However, we do know that this pickup is more durable than the F-150 Lightning. Project T3 stands for ” Trust the truck “. It’s something Ford engineers have been struggling with for months. The model is the first to benefit from the brand’s platform dedicated to electric vehicles.

The T3 project is competitive

That’s enough to make it more efficient than the current Lightning. In his video, Ford promised he would. Elegant, dynamic and very fast “. Marketing is planned for 2025. Ford will have to compete with the main competitors: Chevrolet Silverado EV, Ram 1500 REV and apparently Tesla Cybertruck. All three 100% electric pick-ups promise very strong performance.

All three models promise more than 650 horsepower (though we don’t have all the details yet on the Cybertruck). This shouldn’t pose a problem for Ford’s Project T3. On the other hand, autonomy and charging performance is another story. Ford’s competitors have a range of over 650 km. And certainly 800 km for the best version of the Tesla model.

They are capable of handling up to 350 kW (250 kW for the Cybertruck) in DC. Enough to recover 160 kilometers of autonomy in 10 minutes. As of now, we don’t know if the Ford model can compete with these three behemoths. If American could do better, the T3 would be at the top of the pack of 100% electric pick-ups.
