American investigators are due to land at Miami airport (southeast) on Wednesday, where a Red Air plane landed on Tuesday with a landing gear problem, a fire broke out and more than 120 people were evacuated, three of whom were injured.
Images from the American media show that a McDonnell Douglas aircraft from the Dominican Republic flew over the Tarmac, halfway through the grass, with its nose cracked, and passengers leaving the cabin in a hurry, with black smoke appearing from one side to the other. .
The United States Transportation Safety Agency, NTSB, tweeted on Tuesday that “an MD-82 plane is crashing into an international airport today and sending a team of researchers from Miami after landing gear and a runway cruise.” .
“Nose landing gear collapsed, causing the fire,” the airport said in a tweet.
“Three patients were taken to nearby hospitals,” the Miami Fire Department said. They stated that they “controlled the fire and limited fuel leakage.”
Flight L5-203 landed at 5:45 pm local time when it encountered a “technical problem”, a small low-cost airline called Red Air, based in the Dominican Republic, said on Twitter in November.
130 passengers and 10 crew were evacuated from the plane.
However, an airport spokesman told AFP on Wednesday that “there were 126 people on board” and that he “did not have the number of crew members”.
