IPad 8 (2020) Unboxing + Review: Best Value iPad [Video]

The iPad 8 has been out for a few weeks now. I got the chance to drive it daily and keep it through the ringer. I have confirmed that this is the best value tablet you can buy and here is why.

Design

Physically, it is IPad 8 Similar to the 7th generation model. The thinning of the hand, the weight, the feel are all essentially the same. There are also no new color options. Usually how tired I am with this design. But you are paying 9 329 for this tablet, which is an excellent deal overall. Older people prefer to use iPods because of that physical home button. Apple’s new gesture-based navigation system makes it very easy for people without a hip to use.

Performance

Performance is a key feature on the 8th generation iPad, as this model has been upgraded to the A12 bionic chip. This is the same chip found on the 3rd generation iPad Air and 5th generation iPad mini, as well as the iPhone XR and XS. If you ever use any of those devices, expect this iPad to work similarly for most tasks.

In my usage, the iPad 8 performs better than the 7th generation. Apps load much faster, gaming performance is much better and general multi-tasking performance is enhanced. Is it the same as the iPad Pro or the upcoming Air? Certainly not. But for the 9 329 price point, this is the best performance option you can buy.

Gaming on the iPad 8 is also a great experience. I tested multiple titles varying with graphical intensity. The iPad 8 Batty is smooth. Due to the lack of promotion I did not expect to enjoy gaming on the iPad 8. Surprisingly, I found it quite suitable for gaming on the iPad‌. And not all games fully support the iPad Pro’s 120Hz refresh rate, so this is something to consider.

Performance

The iPod 8 has the same 10.2-inch Retina display as the iPad 7. It has 1620 x 2160 resolution and 264 ppi, which is the same pixel density as the 11 ”iPad Pro. Just like the iPad 7, it definitely has a nice display. It looks almost as sharp as the iPad Pro’s display. While the iPad 8 may not look exactly as smooth as the iPod Pro, it is definitely useful for everyday content usage and creation.

Improved Apple Pencil experience

The Apple Pencil is more responsive than previous models. You may not really feel a little late as you could on the previous iPad model. And this is especially important for artists, religious note-takers or if you are playing some kind of game using an Apple pencil. That delay is annoying, and not something I enjoy on the iPad 8. It’s great for me to take notes or occasionally scroll through Twitter.

In fact, you have the amazing iPados 14 features. You can scribble in any text field, copy handwritten notes as text and, in general, be more accurate when drawing or writing. If you are a student who constantly needs to take notes or are looking for an inexpensive iOS device for illustration, this is the best option. If I want anything for the next generation iPad, I would like to update the Apple Pencil or create the iPad 9 to support the Apple Pencil 2.

Camera

When it comes to the iPad 8’s cameras, there’s not much to be excited about. It has an 8MP rear camera that can shoot 1080p or 720p video at 30 frames per second, which is definitely not impressive, but most people who buy iPads have nothing to do with rear camera performance. However, it is disappointing that the FaceTime camera is still of very low quality. Here is the 1.2MP camera and it is pretty awful. And it’s frustrating because so many people are zooming in on iPods, too, for school work. Based on this, I think it’s a missed opportunity for Apple not to improve the FaceTime camera.

Battery life

Battery life is one of the best selling points of the entry level iPad. And this year the A12 Bionic brings further improvements to the 8th generation iPad. With this processor upgrade, there is an improvement in normal battery capacity. Apple claims here that you can get 10 hours of usage from iPod 8. I can definitely confirm that.

Battery life is excellent for my daily use. I can easily end the day with 30-40% battery depending on how hard I work. Once again, when you put the price in perspective; You remove the charger in the morning and you pay 9 329 for a device that you can use all day if you want. This is a very good value proposition in my view.

The IPad 8 Never thought that would be a huge update. But still, I think this is the best value tablet you can buy. For the 9329, this tablet has a lot to offer: performance, great battery life and Apple Pencil functionality. Today I highly recommend you to dig out the iPad 8 if you need an inexpensive tablet that will give you three to four years without any hassle.
