Israel deports woman accused of pedophilia to Australia (official)

Jerusalem | Former Ultra Orthodox Jewish school principal Malka Leifer has been accused by Israel of sexually harassing her students in the country.

A ministry statement “confirmed the deportation” after Israeli media reported that Ms Liefer, an Israeli national, had boarded a flight to Australia on Monday morning.

According to the Australian media, she faces sexual harassment of 74 young women.

As part of new health measures aimed at curbing the spread of variants of the coronavirus, he will be deported a few hours before international flights to and from Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

Ms Leifer fled Australia in 2008 after a former student complained about her.

According to Israeli media, she lived with her family at the Emmanuel Israel base in the north-occupied West Bank.

She was arrested in 2018.

Israel authorized her extradition in mid-December after the Israeli Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Ms Leafer, who ended a six-year legal battle.

“After many years, after trying to skip herself with mental illness, in the light of the Supreme Court ruling, it is our moral duty to allow her to do justice,” said then-Justice Minister Avie Nissen‌korn.

The case has sparked tensions between Israel and Australia, two allies.
