It has been trying for 20 years to move the electricity pole that blocked its entrance

A Mirabel resident has been trying to move a power pole in the middle of his driveway for 20 years.

Michel Turcotte bought her house in 2001 on the Chemin Saint-Nicolas, on the border between the towns of Mirabel and Saint-Columban.

But the former boss assured him that a simple call with Hydro-Québec would be enough to move the post.

Twenty years later, after actions with the government corporation, Bell, Mirabel and Saint-Columban, the pillar still stands in the same place.

In 2004, Bell Canada estimated a $3,155.40 job to move the pole four meters.

Shocked by the amount of the bill, the couple tried to send it to the city, but were unsuccessful.

In 2011, the city of Saint-Colomban organized picketing work on the Chemin Saint-Nicolas and, according to the owner, several poles had to be moved.

She authorized her by notarial deed to move onto her land anyone who found himself in her driveway.

However, the city prefers to preserve it and keep it in the same place.

Mrs. Turcotte’s residence and the power pole are located on the territory of the city of Mirabel.

In 2022, Ms. Turcotte and her husband struck a deal with the city of Mirabel to give Bell Canada and Hydro-Québec the right to move the two companies’ aerial equipment.

Even after seven months, the works have not started yet.
