Jennifer Abel and David Lemieux welcomed us into their warm home in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood of Laval. In Abel’s arms, 6-month-old Xander gives us a beautiful smile. “He’s a bit of a charmer,” says the new mom.
Our visit comes almost a year after Abel’s retirement. Her fiancé, a former IBF middleweight world champion, followed suit last August.
If it’s gray outside in November, it’s very different among former athletes. Their happiness, it shows. Above all, he experiences himself.
“Last year was full of innovation. Retiring, getting pregnant, getting pregnant with me… Now that Xander is here, that’s another step too. It’s a lot of changes, but ones I love,” the 31-year-old woman said early on, sitting at the dining room table with her son on her lap.
