The National Hockey League (NHL) announced on Thursday that Montreal Canadians general manager Mark Bergwin is one of three finalists for the Jim-Gregory Trophy for the 2020-2021 season.

Bergwin is in contention with Florida Panthers’ Bill Zito and New York Islanders Lou Lamorello for the award, recognizing GM for his role in the NHL regular season. Monday evening will also reveal the identity of the winner.
This is Bergevin’s third nomination since taking office with Hubs in 2012. He also became the fourth general manager to reach the plateau of three nominations for the trophy, followed by Bob Murray, Battle Murray, Battle Anaheim, David Poyle Nashville Predators, and Steve Wizerman, formerly of Tampa Bay Lightning and now the Detroit Red Wings
“I am very proud of this nomination, especially as it relates to the votes of my peers. I would like to acknowledge the remarkable work of all the members of the organization, coaches and players who have been able to deal with a very difficult schedule and have made personal sacrifices to ensure the success of the club. Bergwin said in a statement.
This season, the Canadian finished fourth in the North Division with 59 points, followed by the Toronto Maple Leafs and then the Winnipeg Jets. Following the 2020 series, it made several significant acquisitions, including its GM Tyler Tofoli, Joel Edmundson, Josh Anderson, Jake Allen and Corey Perry. During the 2021 regular calendar, Eric Stall, Eric Gustafson and Joan Merrill signed for Cole Cofield, in addition to dealing with services.
Good competition
For the Islanders, Lamorillo finished fourth in his team in the Eastern Division. The New York team advanced to the third qualifying round for the second year in a row. His people were able to count on the arrival of veterans Travis Jazz and Kyle Palmiri from the New Jersey Devils on April 7th.
In terms of Zito, the Panthers finished second in Central and fourth in the overall standings. Some of the players the club have acquired in recent months, including Anthony Duclaire, have contributed 79 points for head coach Joel Quenneville’s troupe.
The Jim-Gregory Trophy, which has been awarded annually since 2009-2010, is presented after a vote by NHL officials and the media.
