When Jim Montgomery, the new coach of the Boston Bruins, was traded from St. Louis to the Canadiens in 1994, it was a big deal because of captain Guy Carboneau.

Montgomery was a nice guy from Montreal who played with Saint-Laurent College before breaking records with the University of Maine. A Montrealer in the Bruins’ head that will make you smile.

Not counting players, only seven NHL teams do not have former Canadiens in their organization. Others like it like Tampa Bay with Julian Brisbois, Matthew Darche, Jason Cullimore in youth development and Brian Englum, a TV commentator for the Lightning.
