More than one million refugees from Ukraine in Poland

Polish border guards say the number of people arriving in Poland from Ukraine to flee the Russian invasion has exceeded one million by 7:00 pm GMT.

Authorities have facilitated border formalities and set up reception centers, while thousands of private volunteers have provided meals, transportation and accommodation in their homes across the country.

Everywhere, in town halls, churches, schools or sports centers, people brought a lot of food, hygiene products, clothes and blankets.

At railway stations in major cities, for example in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw, dozens of volunteers wait for refugees to board the train and inform them of accommodation options and other assistance.

Many schools have already opened their doors to Ukrainian children, women and children, most of whom are refugees, with men likely to be mobilized in Ukraine.
