Motions have been approved to give permanent residence to Mamadi Kamara

MPs in Ottawa and Quebec on Tuesday voted in favor of two moves to grant permanent residence to Mamadi III Farah Kamara, who was arrested and charged with attempting to kill a police officer in Montreal before being released.

At the House of Commons on Tuesday afternoon, federal aides unanimously voted for the Black Quebecois motion to grant “permanent residence to Mamadi Fara Camara as soon as possible.”

The move could prompt Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Marco Mendicino to consider Mr. Camara’s case, especially by simplifying his integration process into the country.

The National Assembly has passed a resolution asking Immigration Minister Nadine Giralt to grant the scientist a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).

A CSQ can be issued on the condition that an individual first obtains their permanent residence, which is the responsibility of the federal government.

By unanimously accepting the resolution submitted by Independent MP Catherine Fournier, her colleagues in Quebec recognized the “injustice” of being a victim of Mamadi Fara Kamara.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, called earlier this month for “clear answers” to Montreal police services, prompting the transcendence of “systemic racism.”
