The African Football Confederation (CAF) will have a new president on Friday, scheduled for the Electoral General Assembly of the continental organization, in Rabat (Morocco), where only one candidate is in contention, following the withdrawal of South Africa’s Patrice Motsep and three other candidates.
While they were initially four contenders, Ivorian Jacques Anoma, Senegal Augustin Sengor and Mauritanian Ahmed Yahya decided to withdraw their candidacy, giving their support to Motsep.
The outgoing CAF president, Malagasy Ahmed Ahmed, who was among the candidates for the new order, was convicted in a case of moral violations, including “distribution of gifts” and “theft”.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reduced the sanction imposed by the International Federation (FIFA) Ethics Commission from five to two years, confirming Ahmed Ahmed’s disqualification for this election.
Motsep (59), owner of South African club Mamelodi Sundowns, who, unlike other candidates, will be the new owner of CAF, but observers will not give his skin much.

On the other hand, the owner of the Mamelodi Sundowns Club assured that he was not willing to move the CAF headquarters from Cairo.
In this election, members of the General Assembly will be invited to elect their two representatives to the Council of the International Federation, of whom Algerian Federation (FAF) President Kherdine Jetchi, along with Morocco, Fouji Lexas, Egypt’s Hani Aborida and Guinea Guinea from Guinea.
