Mykolayiv was struck by a Russian strike, killing at least seven people

At least seven people were killed Tuesday in a Russian strike that partially destroyed a regional administration building in the Ukrainian city of Mykolayiv, near Odessa, which has been recovering from recent bombings.

AFP journalists saw two corpses being pulled out of the rubble of the building, with the Central Division partially collapsing after the strike.

Auxiliary personnel are searching for “eight civilians and three soldiers” under the rubble, regional governor Vitaly Kim said on Facebook. Many inside were said to be unharmed during the strike.

Mr. Kim said “half the building was destroyed” and his office was affected. He joked that the Russians “understood that they could not take Mykolive and decided to say hello to me and say hello to all of us.”

AFP reporters also saw pieces of glass near a regional veterans’ office on a nearby street corner.

“I’m having breakfast in my apartment,” Donald, a 69 – year – old retired Canadian living in Ukraine, told AFP. “I heard a whistle, then a boom and my windows slammed,” he continued.
