As of Sunday afternoon, according to the Hydro-Quebec “Info-Breakdowns” page, 197,836 Hydro-Quebec customers still lost power.

The state-owned company confirmed on its website that strong winds were causing the disruptions.

“Our fitters are assembled and are already working to restore service. However, the intensifying winds make it difficult for them ”, we can read.

More than 200 teams were sent to the field across Quebec, confirmed by Hydro-Quebec spokeswoman Caroline des Rociers. Other teams must join those already in the daytime.

However, she acknowledged that the government-owned company had failed to provide accurate time for all customers to be reconnected to the power grid.

With 66,551 subscribers, more than a quarter of these interruptions affect Montreux, which lives in darkness. The Laurentians, Lanaudier and Montreal were also badly affected by the blackouts, leaving 39,545, 24,925 and 8,720 homes without electricity, respectively.

Winds of up to 100 km per hour were recorded in Montreal on Saturday evening. Environment Canada issued a warning on the situation this morning.

On Sunday morning, a series of strong winds headed east for Quebec.

The federal agency has issued about ten warnings that strong winds will blow over most of these areas, from Comorosca to Blanc-Sablon.
