(Montreal) Negotiations on the renewal of collective agreements for the nearly 16,000 union members at Hydro-Québec will begin soon in a specific case.
The negotiating committees of the six unions involved, including all local divisions affiliated with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), FTQ, have been meeting for the past few days to prepare for these talks.
The six natives represent different trades: valuable linemen, as well as technicians, professionals and specialists, office workers and others.
“We want the best for our members, but we are preparing for the worst,” they unanimously declared at the meeting.
The talks come amid a change in the Crown corporation’s senior management and the Legault government’s desire to further develop Hydro-Québec’s capabilities.
Additionally, Hydro-Québec is posting record profits. And the public has just been educated about the importance of its employees, as the blizzard left as many as 1.1 million customers without power.
