New interruption in modern vaccine deliveries

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHIC) said on Wednesday evening that it would further disrupt vaccine deliveries from Moderna in February.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced last week that Moderna would only deliver 180,000 doses of the vaccine in the first week of February, down from 230,400.

According to a PHIC document obtained by television networks, expected deliveries for the week of February 22 will also be reduced, although the number of missing vases is not specified.

Despite everything, PHAC has promised that Moderna will deliver a total of 2 million doses to Canada by the end of March.

The vaccine campaign, which was well underway in early January, was virtually halted in the country due to delivery issues from Pfizer / BioMtech and Moderna.

For example, only 590 doses were given in Quebec on Tuesday, dropping to just 84 vaccines on January 30. In the past, thousands of people in Quebec could receive the vaccine every day.

Keep in mind that Pfizer significantly reduced its deliveries in February due to expansion work at its plant in Belgium. Doses are expected to be 79,000 doses in the first week of February and 70,000 doses in the second, much lower than the 367,000 expected to arrive each week in Canada.
