An investigation was launched after two trains collided Tuesday evening northeast of Montreal, not far from the Saint-Léonard-Montreal-Nord station. No one was injured in the incident, but train services were disrupted.
It was a Canadian National (CN) train that collided with a stopped Exo Commuter train on the Muskouch line, the cause still unknown. At the passage of Press In the evening, we could see two trains standing opposite each other and the employees were busy taking photos of the scene.
By email, CN said “preliminary information indicates that there were no serious injuries or hazardous materials involved in the incident.”

“Local first responders and CN personnel are on site. We will update you on developments as soon as we have more information. CN apologizes for the impacts of the incident,” continued Mr. Abecasis.
A team of investigators from the Transport Safety Board (TSB) will also be sent to the scene in the coming days to gather information, the federal agency said in the evening.
Exo, for its part, reiterated that the train crew and passengers on the Exo train were attended to by emergency services, adding that it was too early to determine the cause of the collision.
Many trains were cancelled
The impact on service was quickly felt on Tuesday: all remaining trains on the Moscowcoch line were canceled on the evening of 21 November.
According to our information, a VIA Rail train was also forced to drop off Montreal-bound passengers at Riviere-des-Prairies due to unavailability of tracks.
“Users were supported by taxi services and shuttle buses so that they could complete their journey to their destination this evening,” said EXO spokesman Jean-Maxime Saint-Hilaire.
For its part, the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) confirmed that it had intervened to allow citizens to access and exit the station.
In mid-August, an inquiry was also launched to determine the exact cause of the derailment of one wagon and two locomotives. The event took place at the end of the day, in Montreal’s Old Port.
