Nova Scotia reports 10 new COVID-19 cases, all in the Central Zone

There are 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Nova Scotia, bringing the total number of active cases in the province to 125.

Nine of the new cases are in the Central Health Center and one in the Western Zone, a press release said. But stated that all cases released later were in the Central Zone.

Nova Scotia Labs completed 2,254 tests on Saturday.

An additional 540 tests were performed at the rapid test site in Dartmouth. A positive case was found and the person was ordered to self-isolate and instructed to perform a standard test.

No one was hospitalized in Nova Scotia for the virus.

The Province Case Data website has not been updated since November 26th. A news release said it was due to a technical problem.

The province on Saturday announced five new exposure sites, including businesses in Sydney and Troy.

Premier Stephen McNeill urged people in the Halifax area to follow the latest guidelines.

“We are working together to curb the spread of the virus by enforcing new restrictions in most of the Halifax area,” he said in a news release.

New restrictions are in effect

The new sanctions went into effect Thursday Halifax Regional Municipality and parts of Hunts County.

These restrictions include dining in bars and restaurants and closing gymnasiums, libraries, museums and casinos for at least two weeks. Masks are mandatory in common areas of multi-unit dwellings such as apartments and condo.

Across the province, Visits to long-term care facilities are no longer allowed Unless the person is a volunteer or a designated guardian.

All other Atlantic provinces, most recently New Brunswick, have introduced a 14-day self-isolation mandatory for travelers. As of Thursday evening, Nova Scotia’s policy on regional travel had not changed.
