A person who is a medical consultant at the National Institute of Public Health is of the opinion that the situation should be examined very closely.

“The Omicron variant changes the image,” the scientist argues.

However, he emphasized that the first emerging studies on this new variant showed that it was “less serious”.

“We call it virus, so it has the potential to cause serious illness. But less is not a serious illness. I think cases will start and hospitalization will be normal,” the expert confirmed.

For Gaston De Serres, it became clear that a 3rd dose COVID vaccine was needed to combat the Omicron variant.

“A third dose is very necessary,” he said.

He believes the interval between the second and third dose, which is currently six months, may be reduced.
