“We are not overwhelmed because of Kovid, we are overwhelmed because our health network is no longer capable,” said Dr Lear Bibas, a cardiologist and intensive care specialist at Pierre-Boucher Hospital.
According to him, COVID-19 exacerbated the existing problem.
“[Le réseau de la santé] There was not much capacity in front of the pandemic and the pandemic broke the camel’s back a little and spilled everywhere, ”he said.
Dr. Bibas admitted that he had been “slightly depressed” by the lack of improvement in the health network for two years.
“I’m frustrated that I do not see our health network problems as epidemic issues, yet these are health issues and if no action is taken they will not improve,” the doctor said.
However, he said he was encouraged by the fact that many Cubans in the emergency room and those who received their three-dose vaccine against COVID-19 did not show any signs or symptoms.
