The Pittsburgh Penguins put up a defenseman Jack Johnson Monday on unconditional amnesty for purchase purpose.
Johnson has $ 3.25 million left over from his three seasons in his contract. The acquisition will save the penguins 2.0 8 2.08 million over the next two seasons, 33 1.33 million in 2022-23 and add $ 916,667 cap charge over the next three years.
In 67 games this season, Johnson has scored three goals and 11 points. He was without a point in four games during the return to play.
The 33-year-old is a veteran of 937 career games with 70 goals and 302 points.
Johnson, who was selected third by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2005, joined the Penguins in 2018 on a five – year, $ 16.25 million contract as a free agent.
Also on Monday, the Penguins issued qualifying offers to pending free agents Pontus Aberg, Anthony Angelo, Sam Laferty, Sam Miletic and Matt Murray. Forward Graham Knot and Dominic Simon and defenseman John Nieberg announced on Tuesday that the team would not receive qualifying offers before the deadline.
