The COVID-19 preventive measures, which have been strengthened following the recent rise in local cases, will take effect in Peterborough from Monday.
Peterborough Public Health announced Friday afternoon that the city and county of Petersburg, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiyawata First Nation will move from the green prevention level to the yellow protection level at 12:01 a.m. Monday.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Rosanna Salvatore Warned Wednesday The decision can be made after Friday Increase in cases.
“Although we exclude cases related to the Fairhaven outbreak, the community is moving into the yellow zone based on a number of indicators showing that the outbreak rate is increasing,” Salvatore said in a press release Friday.
“What matters to me is the proportion of cases that have nothing to do with travel or relationship with the case. I hope that the new measures now needed in our area will enable us to be more effective in preventing new cases, and our staff will ensure that local business operators need to develop the necessary security plans.”
Yellow zone status means there are strict restrictions on bars, restaurants, food courts and meeting and event venues.
By Monday, establishments must close at midnight or sell or serve liquor only between 9 and 11 a.m. and no alcohol consumption between midnight and 9 p.m.
Contact information must be collected from all the patrons they sit on, with a limit of six people sitting together.

“The city is working with Peterborough Public Health on any changes in operations at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Center required from the yellow status in our area.”
Because from Monday, sports and recreation centers will need face shields except when exercising.
They should increase the space between the weight / weight machines and the patrons with exercise / fitness classes to three meters.
Entertainment is limited to 10 people inside the house and 25 outdoor rooms.
Contact information is required from all patrons and team sports must collect attendance information.
Reservations are also required for admission to recreational facilities (teams require a single reservation).
Although there were no details Friday night on how the Sport and Wellness Center activities will be adjusted accordingly, Therian said he hopes those plans will be revealed soon.
“We will provide more information as the details are finalized in consultation with Public Health,” she wrote.
