Peterborough is heading to the Yellow Zone on Monday

The COVID-19 preventive measures, which have been strengthened following the recent rise in local cases, will take effect in Peterborough from Monday.

Peterborough Public Health announced Friday afternoon that the city and county of Petersburg, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiyawata First Nation will move from the green prevention level to the yellow protection level at 12:01 a.m. Monday.

By Monday, establishments must close at midnight or sell or serve liquor only between 9 and 11 a.m. and no alcohol consumption between midnight and 9 p.m.

Contact information must be collected from all the patrons they sit on, with a limit of six people sitting together.

The volume of music is not louder than the volume of normal conversation.

There are also new security restrictions in the yellow zone status for gyms and recreational facilities, Mayor Diane Therian wrote in a statement to The Examiner on Friday night – and the area where she expects municipal services to be most affected.

“Arenas are already operating on a reservation-based system,” Therian wrote.

“The city is working with Peterborough Public Health on any changes in operations at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Center required from the yellow status in our area.”
