Quebec Public Health on Friday requested a vaccination picture for all employees in the academy.
This was revealed in a press release issued by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) on Tuesday evening.
According to CUPE, establishment managers have until Tuesday to provide information. Everything happened without consulting union representatives at the field level.
“We know we are living in an extraordinary situation, but this government should know that violating workers’ rights is not acceptable and should not consult their union representatives,” CUPE Education Sector Vice President Richard Delisley denied.
In a letter to the management of educational institutions, Public Health called for “monitoring of vaccination coverage of employees working in our educational institutions as much as possible,” he said. School year 2021-2022 to allow public health to intervene or modify current health practices if proven necessary ”.
In the statement, the union fears that workers in education may face the same situation as health workers. “We believe the government intends to vaccinate all workers in the education sector, as it did last week in the health sector, otherwise these individuals will be suspended without pay. Failure to respect the rights and freedoms of our members is a serious mistake,” said Mary-Claude Arbor, CUPE union adviser and education coordinator.
CUPE has about 122,000 members in Quebec.
