“Hello everyone: I want to tell you that unfortunately I have to end my 2021 season. Honestly, I’m living in a year that is far more painful than I should have been,” Spaniard wrote on his Twitter account. 35 years old, which will draw a line at the US Open (August 30-September 12).

“I am confident that I can achieve this if my foot is healed and, with a lot of daily effort,” he says.
“I will do my best to do it as possible. Thank you in advance for your support, which is very important to me during these difficult times. I promise I will work hard to try to enjoy this sport for a while,” he concluded.
Nadal is the third leading player to end his season prematurely due to injury after five-time Flushing Meadows winner Roger Federer (knee) and title holder Dominic Theme (wrist) in New York.
