The Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) service was suspended indefinitely on Saturday evening due to smoke detection.
REM made the announcement on X just before 9pm on Saturday.
“Emergency services intervention will cause disruption of service in both directions,” it stated.
Shuttles (buses) are available for passengers.
Smoke was detected near the Île-des-Sœurs station at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the company.
“As a safety measure, we have decided to suspend the operation to make sure everything is safe,” we explained to QMI Agency.
The time to return to normal is yet to be determined.
“Teams have been appointed to analyze the reasons. We will provide more information as soon as possible. Until then, a succession plan is in place to ensure the customer journey,” we added.
