In 2005, the former RadioShack stores, which became La Source stores in Canada, once again changed their brand image to Best Buy Express.

Best Buy Canada and Bell Canada announced that they have entered into a partnership to jointly operate 165 Bell-owned La Source stores. A name and image change is planned for the second half of 2024.

For the electronics retailer accustomed to large-scale stores, the partnership above all allows it to grow its presence in Canada.

“We are very proud of our in-store experience and these modernized smaller stores are sure to attract new and existing Best Buy customers,” Best Buy Canada president Ron Wilson said in a press release.

In addition to exclusively offering Bell Telecommunications products, the new Best Buy Express will sell the electronic products the chain already sells.

However, the change will cause almost half of the La Source stores that are still open in Canada to close their doors. Globe and Mail Bell Canada says it has about 300 La Source stores across the country.

Arriving in Canada nearly fifty years ago, RadioShack electronics stores quickly spread across the country.

In 2005, the stores changed their name to The Source in Canada, after their operator Intertan lost the right to use the RadioShack name north of the border. The chain has about 900 stores in Canada.

Four years later, Bell Canada acquired about 750 La Source stores, a number that has since continued to decline.
