“It is clear, the reopening of borders, I look at it with a very positive outlook,” Valerie Plante said at a meeting in front of the Chamber of Commerce and Metropolitan Montreal (CCMM) on Friday afternoon. “I have the impression that we are in the process of filling all the boxes” with the number of cases of vaccination, vaccine passport increase and decrease.

In her speech, Meyers repeatedly stressed that “Montreal is doing well,” but acknowledged that the hotel sector and more broadly tourism are still flat.

“If we had tourists, it would definitely help these sectors incredibly,” she said. “For my part, there is always this desire to reopen – apparently, when the situation allows it.”

Before her, the president of the Chamber of Commerce appealed in favor of relaxing the rules.

“In Montreal, we want the business community to open it,” said Michel LeBlanc.
