Restoration: the end of a real institution in the Saint-Sauveur district

Restoration: the end of a real institution in the Saint-Sauveur district

The Quebec restaurant, which opened in 1982, will close its doors permanently on December 29.

For more than 42 years, Kiran-Ô, a true institution on rue Marie-de-l'Incarnation between Saint-Vallier Ouest and Montmartre, stops serving its legendary pizza.

Forty seats, a pizzeria in the Saint-Sauveur district that serves hamburgers and poutine, offers deliveries and take-out orders.

“It is with a very heavy heart, but with peace, that we have to tell you this news,” wrote Matisse Langevin in a long message, which he bought from his parents a few years ago. The building was sold and the family simply decided to move.

Efforts

On the site, the 29-year-old doesn't hide his emotions. We think he and his close friends put a lot of time and love into the company.

“My parents have invested a lot and their pension fund is here. They held it at arm's length and I took it. We decided to sell and our neighbor bought. It's not the scenario I wanted, but it's very interesting for us,” confides to the restaurateur.

The most loyal customers heard the bad news quickly. The business claims they have watched children grow and age over four decades.

“It's the best pizza. It hurts us a lot and we come back to the end,” said Serge Bouchard, who regularly leaves Cap-Rouge to taste his favorite pizza.

Emotions

It is not known what Matisse Langevin will do in 2025, but he will do his best until the last day. During the summer heat waves, he never used the pizza oven and fryer.

“Very sad. I worked for the previous employer. I learned here and there is a lot of history. We have very good clients and it is rare to last this long. Succession and transition are not easy. I was about to get back into business, I was bitten by the bug,” added Mr Langevin.

“I've been here for ten years,” said Johan Nolin, also a very emotional employee.

For the next ten weeks, the team will be thanking everyone who wants to order the last “Kiran-Ô”.
