Scottish Independence: Former First Minister thanks PSPP for support

After the right to hold a referendum on independence was lost before the British Supreme Court, Scotland can still count on the support of the Parti Québécois leader, a recognition praised by the former Scottish prime minister.

“The PQ is always on your side,” PQ player Paul Saint-Pierre Plamondon said on Twitter on Wednesday as he announced the verdict on the other side of the Atlantic.

He also took the opportunity to recall that the National Assembly had voted in 2021 for the PQ’s unanimous resolution recognizing the right of Scots to “dispose of their own destiny”.

A message of thanks to former Scottish Prime Minister Alex Salmond did not go unnoticed.

“Hopefully we can talk soon to explore how we can support each other,” he wrote on social media in French.

Remember Mr Salmond is the leader of the Scottish independence party ALBA. He was at the root of the country’s first referendum on independence in 2014 and announced his resignation as prime minister the day after the “No” victory.
