A US judge on Thursday ordered the release of a court document setting out the grounds for a recent federal police (FBI) search of former President Donald Trump’s Florida home, while agreeing to heavily redact the text.

The Justice Ministry must make public by Friday afternoon (4 pm GMT) a document detailing the reasons that led to the investigation and the identities of some of the actors in the case, federal judge Bruce Reinhart ruled.
But while many of these items may be secret, the Ministry of Justice’s request for Mr. Reinhart agreed, arguing that it was a “compelling” need to redact important parts of the document in the interests of investigations.
On Monday, Bruce Reinhart ordered the release of the account, at least in part, citing unprecedented public interest in the search of the former US president’s home.
Officials objected to its release, saying it was “a very broad, leaked text devoid of any substantive content”.
On August 8, the FBI raided Donald Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, seizing boxes of classified documents that the Republican had not returned to authorities despite repeated requests.
Donald Trump, who is flirting with the idea of a 2024 presidential run, has not had strong words to condemn the search, which he considers an example of a “witch hunt” on the target.
On Thursday, the businessman once again proclaimed his innocence on his Truth social network, accusing him of being “unlawfully attacked” by “radical left-wing Democratic prosecutors”. [sa] home”.
