Ski season in Vancouver: Mount Cyprus opens with 'the best possible snow conditions'

Russell Chamberlain, general manager of West Vancouver, says Cyprus has seen ‘the best possible snowfall’ recently.

The Vancouver ski season kicks off today, Friday, November 13 in the North Shore’s Cyprus Mountains.

In a Announcement of the opening day, Russell Chamberlain, President and General Manager, Cyprus, said the recent cold weather had led to “the best possible snow conditions”.

Apart from Fridays, the resort operates during normal ski-season hours, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We will begin our return to winter operation by opening our inexperienced Chairlift Easy Rider and opening the Intermediate Ski Run Upper Fork and Lower Jassie Jail on the Eagle Express Quad Chairlift,” Chamberlain said.

For skiing or snowboard planners, daily activity tickets are limited – they must be purchased in advance online, to ensure adequate social distance on and around the slopes is possible.

The president hopes that by Saturday, November 14, Cyprus Gnorley’s Tube Park will be open, with limited online daily tickets available for this weekend ‘s Tube sessions.

Current times for booking are from noon to 2pm and from 2pm to 4pm

“We have worked hard overseas to ensure that we provide the best opportunity for a safe entertainment experience and we hope all visitors will do their part to maintain a COVID – 19 free environment,” Chamberlain said.

“The plan is to develop over the season and, based on the recommendations of the health authorities, or when we find efficiencies, on an ongoing basis, we hope that revisions and adjustments will sometimes need to be made on a daily basis.”
