Speed Skating Canada (SPC) executive director Susan Ouch has been ordered by a Manitoba judge to pay $600,000 in restitution to a former business partner in civil litigation.

In a very serious ruling, Judge Jeffrey Harris of the King’s Bench in Manitoba found that the former speed skater had engaged in “fraudulent conduct” in her business dealings.
Still in office, Auch appealed to and retained the support of the federation’s board of directors.
On May 26, a no-fault verdict related to the limestone quarry exploitation, an unsuccessful project between 2012 and 2015.
A real estate agent at the time, Ouch, a two-time Olympic medalist, was working with her husband, colleagues and the Peguis First Nation to get Roger Rural Municipality to allow a limestone quarry on their land.
In October 2012, Auch, through a company it owns, along with two partners conditionally purchased land owned by Heather Anne Stewart for $8 million. This agreement is accompanied by a mortgage agreement from Mr.me Ouch and his colleagues Stewart to the newly formed company.
